Children’s Factual Entertainment 6 x 30 Min : Food Programme
Wicked, awesome or sick, some of the words the next generation use to describe an object or experience which is ‘great’ . That’s exactly what Chris and Jenny create, good food with great taste for children. A brand new double act for TV, their groundbreaking approach to taste is wowing a new generation of kids.
Children form the nub of the growing statistics concerning government and NHS showing the younger generation is heading for a health crisis with the rapid rise in obesity and diabetes.
With food allergies on the increase the next generation lack both the skills and knowledge to ‘eat for life’.
There was a 700% rise in severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) reported by hospitals between 1990 and 2004. Their lives revolve round a fast food diet with TV ready meals and a culture of 30-second microwave cooking. No wonder there’s an escalating problem! But kids won’t take a daily interest in food unless it’s fun and tastes great. Chris and Jenny having been working together to develop an engaging approach that has relevance to kids. Providing the knowledge and support for them to make their own informed decisions about what they eat as they grow up. Most importantly making it a ‘hands on’ fun experience they’ll enjoy.
Dynamic and inspirational, Chris and Jenny they are joined by their cartoon helpers Jackson and Bella in getting factual information about food across.
This is interactive food education for the next generation, accessed via TV, mobile and web, including the use of an online game. If kids know why making just a few simple decisions would change their lives they won’t need persuading to change their eating habits for life. They can educate Mum and Dad on the way! Like they already have in recycling!
Chris is a Michelin starred chef who’s at the top of his profession but wants to share his experience with kids of easy cooking with amazing taste. An original forager he’s just as likely to found up a tree looking for natural ingredients to enhance taste, as dressed in his chef’s whites. Slightly quirky, he’s collaborated with major universities in pioneering healthy and simple alternatives in a fun and exciting way.
Jenny is the Nutritional Guru, eating plan agony aunt to the stars; she’s helped TV presenters like Ruth Langsford and Joanna Page from Gavin & Stacy. Through her clinic she’s worked with a host of teenagers and children, having been approached by their worried parents, with irregular eating habits, ACNE, and stress to name a few, giving her an unprecedented insight in how to address what young people eat, and why they eat it. A regular writer for various National newspapers and magazines she has the qualification and experience to back up her advice. Recently her book ‘Not just Sandwiches – 5 ways to improve your child’s lunchbox’ was launched alongside her new website catering for children’s lunchboxes.
